Exabees Team Building at Pantai Kerachut – Part 2

July 29th, 2011

Next we were heading to one of the most special destinations of our Kerachut trip, the Meromictic Lake! You may ask what is really so special about a Meromictic lake? Well, the water in a Meromictic lake consists of sea water and fresh clear water, in 2 SEPARATE layers that do not mix!! Yeah the denser salty sea water will always remain at the lower layer while the less dense fresh water will always remain on top. Dipping your legs in a Meromictic lake, one will feel cool water sweeping swiftly through the top while warmer water drifting slowly at the bottom. What is even more special is that the Penang National Park’s Meromictic lake is a seasonal one that is only visible for six months of the year.

Exabees Team Building at Pantai Kerachut – Part 1

July 26th, 2011

Undisturbed, tranquility, lush greenery and full of natural wonders are what best to describe Exabees’ team building destination of 2011, Pantai Kerachut! Famous for its beautiful beaches, turtle hatchery site and the seasonal meromictic lake that is only visible for only six months of the year, Pantai Kerachut is also a dream destination for many city folks to relax, unwind and disconnect from their daily hustle and bustle. On July 16, more than 50 Exabees with their spouses were in for a 2-day 1-night special nature odyssey and team building which promised to leave a lifetime memory.

Gathered at our assembly point next to a shabby wooden bridge, which was just a stone’s throw away from the entrance of our climb to Pantai Kerachut, we anxiously waited for our team members to arrive.

Press Conference on Launch of KHES (Kaspersky Hosted Email Security)

July 11th, 2011

In conjunction with the recent partnership of Exabytes with Kaspersky Lab to introduce KHES (Kaspersky Hosted Email Security), an official press conference which attended by more than 15 members of the press was held at Mid Valley SME Expo on 30th June at 2.00 pm.

Couldn’t stress enough on the importance of internet security to any company/individual to avoid being the easy target of hackers and phishers who steal personal/financial information online, CEO Chan once again presented at the event the promotional add-on rate of RM120 for the first year for every 10 mailboxes with renewal of RM300 per year for 10 mailboxes. For new clients, the introductory price is RM300 compared to the regular price of RM600 per year for 10 mailboxes. “We want to encourage our clients to protect themselves against these hackers and phishers who cause users huge amount of money each year. And that’s the reason we are offering discounted introductory price”, said Chan.

Also present at the press conference was Mr. Jimmy Fong, Channel Sales Director, SEA, Kaspersky Lab. Jimmy quoted some highly convincing data by Kaspersky showing that from the close of 2009, the number of malicious programs designed to steal any type of users’ personal data has increased by more than 100%. Moreover, based on a recent survey conducted by IDC Security, about 58% of Asian manufacturers do not know how many security events have occurred in their organizations in the past 12 months. “These cyber criminals have great experience in penetrating corporate networks, stealing personal and financial information from users. For clients who do not have IT support personnel, they are especially vulnerable to these attacks, and KHES can do just the right job by giving Exabytes’ clients a piece of mind.” Fong stressed.

CEO Chan was particularly impressed earlier this year after several stringent and extensive test lab sessions and follow-up analyses were carried out on Kaspersky products especially its cloud solution. “The commitment from Kaspersky team really caught our attention. Apart from the numerous benefits of KHES including world-class protection, rapid deployment, maintenance-free and cost effectiveness, it allows the IT support personnel in a company to focus more on its core duties since KHES will be the security guardian to the company’s network”, Chan was quoted as saying at the press conference.

The dedicated members of the press were then treated to some refreshments before Kaspersky press kits such as free Kaspersky pens, notepads and USB thumb drives were given away in the goodie bags.

Amid flashes of cameras, Chan and Fong ‘sealed the deal’ with the signature handshake, symbolizing the beginning era of stronger cyber protection for Exabytes clients.

DURIAN BUFFET with Exabytes’ beloved clients at Balik Pulau, Penang

July 5th, 2011

This year the pungent aroma of durians from Penang has traveled a far distance to KL and even Singapore. Exabytes’ very first Durian Party attracted more than 80 clients from KL, Penang and some from Singapore. Known as the king of fruits, we all know that the durian is famous for its formidable thorn-covered husk, unique (some say ‘super wonderful’) odour and the heatiness experienced by eaters after consuming. And at Exabytes’ Durian Party just a week ago, there were over 20 different types of durians for our valued clients and Exabees to choose from.

Sunday at 1.30pm, while the sun was still sunny and bright, 50 Exabees together with 80 clients of Exabytes set foot in Fruit n Spice, a durian farm situated at Balik Pulau, Penang for our ultimate Durian Buffet!! Yeah…! And what was crazier was that we were going to eat durians alongside Penang Laksa! As both are infamous for their heatiness experienced by eaters after consuming, we knew that we were in for a food joy ride this afternoon. But we didn’t fret. To tame the formidable durian and the exotic Penang Laksa, we had prepared mangosteens, salt water, cempedak, the rambutan, etc to cool ourselves down.

After the long winding roads along Balik Pulau, we finally reached the car park of the durian farm. With more than 50 cars all by Exabytes’ clients and Exabees, we practically jammed up the entire parking space at Fruit n Spice. Read more…
